Philippines 2010
As we have shared in the previous
newsletter, the Lord has called us to go back to the Philippines again in
2010. It was not an easy decision, but we want to be obedient to the Lord
because in His will, souls are saved for His glory. This is what weighs so
heavy on our hearts and compels us to go and preach the gospel here in the
US, in the Philippines, and as God opens the door.
We have not purchased our plane tickets yet as we are still finalizing our
ministry commitments there. But as of now, the tentative dates for the
Philippines are March 8 to April 20.
This will be the longest time yet that we will be in the mission field,
about 6 weeks. In spite of the length of time, we still will not be able to
fulfill every invitation. All the ministries next year will be in the
Southern Philippine area. We have invitations to minister at two other Bible
Colleges and at several other churches in the Northern Philippine area but
regrettably we will not be able to go there next year.
We want to share with you some of the ministries that we will be involved
in.
As most of you know, the travel from Akron, Ohio to Davao will take more
than 30 hours, so the first week will be travel and preparation time.
The following week, we start out at the Keith Williams Bible College with
the Baccalaureate service and Foundation Day.
Following that, we will be ministering at the ECOFI Pastors' Conference
where they're expecting about 400 delegates. Pearlyn will also be
ministering to the Pastors' Wives during this time.
The following week, Dan will speak at the Baccalaureate Service of the Davao
Bible College.
On Easter week, we will minister at a 6-day Youth Rally. We were told that
in previous years, their attendance is 600-700 delegates but this year, they
are expecting 1000.
On our last week there, we will be ministering at the ECOFI Couples'
Conference. The attendance for this conference in previous years runs about
300-400.
In between these ministry commitments, we also have church services
scheduled.
We ask you to please pray fervently for us, we really need and appreciate
your prayers. Our hearts burn with a burden for the lost, we are going
because of souls hanging in the balance. By the grace of God, we hope to win
many of them, directly through services and personal contact, and indirectly
through equipping Pastors.
Through Bible Colleges and equipping pastors, we believe that we can reach
countless souls. As we equip these Pastors and Bible Colleges, Time
Ministries (YOU) will have a part of every soul they win. It does not stop
there; as these new converts go and win souls, you also have a part of that.
Like we always say, God's blessings do not come in additions, they come in
multiplications!
We also would like to share some of the ministry projects that the Lord has
laid on our hearts for 2010.
As we have done in previous years, we would like to purchase Thompson Chain
Study Bibles, guitars and rice for the Pastors and the graduates. If you
would like to be a part of these gifts, the Thompson Chain Study Bibles cost
$49 each and guitars are $40 each. The price of rice fluctuates, but it runs
around $0.50 per pound. It is impossible for us to give to every Pastor so
what we do is raffle them off, and then we give a gift to every graduate.
Each year as we get there, God always lays more ministry projects on our
hearts. This past March, we found out that there was going to be a Pastors'
Wives' Retreat in October (this month). There was a concern that many will
not be able to attend because of the cost, which was $4 per person. God laid
such a burden on our hearts for them so we told them that we will pay $3 for
each one, leaving them with $1 so there will be some accountability on their
part. When the announcement was made, a loud cheer of gratitude erupted!
Praise God!
Many things that we take for granted are luxuries for them. For them to have
a study Bible is a once in a lifetime gift that they could use to win souls
for the Lord. A Pastor shared that he has been praying for a Thompson Chain
Bible for 10 years and God finally answered his prayers. Many churches have
no musical instruments at all so to have a guitar is a great blessing to
help them worship God. Several of the recipients of the rice last year told
us that it was an answer to prayer because they were out of rice.
The need in the Philippines is overwhelming. We are not able to do near
enough to meet their needs, but by the grace of God, your prayers and
support, we are able to give them JESUS, a priceless and eternal gift!
Greetings from Dan and Pearlyn...
Greetings with thanksgiving to all of you!
As we approach the Thanksgiving season, we look back and give thanks and
glory to our loving Heavenly Father for His countless blessings!
We want to thank you once again for your prayers and support this past year.
The Lord called us to go, share His Good News and win the lost, but without
your prayers and support, we cannot go.
For the glory of God, so far this year, we know of 205 people who have
accepted the Lord and more than 1,000 people since Time Ministries started 5
1/2 years ago. Praise God! Their names are now written in the Lamb's Book of
Life, their eternal destiny has been altered from an eternity in hell to an
eternity in heaven with our Lord. Their lives are forever changed because
you have allowed God to use you to be a part of winning them to Jesus. For
this, we thank you so much with all of our hearts. We cannot find adequate
words to tell you the eternal impact that you have made. These converts can
never thank you enough nor repay you for making it possible for them to hear
about God's love, but we know every deed you've done in the Name of Jesus is
recorded in heaven. One of these days, every one of them will walk up to you
and thank you. Your love for the lost has touched the heart of God. Thank
you for giving to the Lord, your rewards are great!
We are eternally grateful to you. Thank you so much from the very bottom of
our hearts! God bless you!
Laughter... Good for the Soul
Elijah
The Sunday school teacher was carefully explaining the story of Elijah the
Prophet and the false prophets of Baal. She explained how Elijah built the
altar, put wood upon it, cut the bull in pieces, and laid it upon the altar.
Then, Elijah commanded the people to fill four barrels of water and pour it
over the altar. He had them do this four times "Now," said the teacher, "can
anyone in the class tell me why the Lord would have Elijah pour water over
the bull on the altar?"
A little girl in the back of the room started waving her hand, "I know! I
know!" she said, "To make the gravy!"
Lot's Wife
The Sunday School teacher was describing how Lot's wife looked back and
turned into a pillar of salt. Little Jason interrupted, "My Mommy looked
back once while she was driving" he announced triumphantly, "and she turned
into a telephone pole!"
Encouragement
Wow! It seems as only yesterday
Spring arrived, Summer sailed through, Fall made a spectacular debut, and
now in October, snow is falling. Where has the time gone?
The question is, have you made good use of the time? It's so easy to kind of
fall into the swing of things and never really notice what is going on
around us. As Pearlyn and I travel, one of the most alarming things we see
is the unawareness of God's people as to what is happening in our country.
We are more concerned about a possible flu that could kill us than we are
about the one who came to kill steal and destroy us. We find churches and
Christians who are totally unaware of the Christian values and freedoms we
are about to loose. I saw a sign on a church marquee the other day that
said, "Get out of facebook and get into My book. - God." I've read God's
book through many times and I find that those who are faithful to God, He
will be faithful to them. So come on Church, stop searching the internet for
answers to our problems and start searching the "One" who can solve our
problems.
On the other hand we find many Christians who are worrying and becoming
discouraged. Proverbs 12:25 says, "Anxiety in the heart of man causes
depression, but a good word makes it glad." Can I tell you that God has not
forsaken those of us who have a true and loving relationship with Jesus? God
told Abram in Gen 15:1, "Do not be afraid, Abram. I am your shield, your
exceedingly great reward." In Matthew 14, when the disciples were crossing
the sea they ran into a terrible storm, their lives were at risk. Our nation
is in a storm right now because we have rejected God's Son, Jesus. We have
instituted man's values rather then God's. In the midst of the storm, in
verse 27, Jesus came walking on the water and said, "Be of good cheer! It is
I; do not be afraid." He is our strength in weakness. Isaiah 41:10 says,
"Fear not, for I am with you; Be not dismayed, for I am your God. I will
strengthen you, yes, I will help you, I will uphold you with My righteous
hand."
Psalms 30:5 says in part, "weeping may endure for a night, but joy comes in
the morning." Yes, a new Day is about to dawn. Are you ready? Are you
prepared?
Until next time, Dan
