Philippine Trip Confirmed
As we shared with you in our last newsletter,
we got an invitation to go to the Philippines in March of 2005. We took this
to the Lord in prayer and asked Him for His direction. When we went into the
ministry, Dan told God that wherever He opens the door, we will go.
When the invitation came, we were looking at
many obstacles that were in the way. We asked the Lord to take them away, and
when He does, we'll go. God took away two of the six obstacles pretty much
within a couple of weeks. We knew we would have to make a decision very soon.
So along with many of you, we were fervently praying for God's clear
direction. We were off on October 24th, so we were at our home church, Spring
Meadow Family Worship Center. Pastor Gary Boor's messaged addressed very
specifically every single one of the concerns we had. There was no doubt in
our minds then that God wants us to go. The obstacles are still there, but we
knew we had to make the commitment and God would take care of them. Dan
reminded me that when God called us to the ministry, it wasn't until we made
the commitment to step out in faith and go, that things began to fall in place
and doors started to open. So now that we are sure that it's God's will for us
to go even though God hasn't taken away all the obstacles yet. We are making
the commitment to go because we know that once we take that step of faith, God
will take care of the rest.
We will update you in the next newsletter on
our itinerary and schedule. As of now, we know that some of the services we
will be ministering at will include the Keith Williams Bible Institute
Graduation, Founder's Day, 3-day Annual Workers Conference, plus some church
services.
Please keep us in your prayers. This is quite
a big undertaking for us. We don't want this trip to be just another trip, but
we want to see God move, souls saved, lives changed and touched for eternity.
Greetings from Dan and Pearlyn...
2004 has been a year of new experiences for
us. As we approach the end of it, we look back to count the many blessings God
has bestowed upon us this past year. One of the special blessings we thank God
for is the many people, like you, who have been and are instrumental in the
growth of Time Ministries. We can never thank you enough for taking time to
pray for us. Your prayers have been the key to the many souls that have come
to know the Lord, for lives being touched, changed, and impacted for eternity
this past year. Thank you for standing behind us, encouraging us, supporting
us, and for cheering us on in Jesus' Name. We thank you and wish you all a
very blessed Thanksgiving and Christmas season! God bless you!
Kids Theology
A Kindergarten teacher was observing her
classroom of children while they were drawing. She would occasionally walk
around to see each child's work. As she got to one little girl who was working
diligently, she asked what the drawing was.
The girl replied, "I'm drawing
God." The teacher paused and said, "But no one knows what God looks
like." Without missing a beat or looking up from her drawing, the girl
replied, "They will in a minute."
Mission and the Heart of God
When we think of the Mission Field, most of
the time we think of World Missions. As Christians, we are all called to be
missionaries. Our mission field doesn't have to be hundreds or thousands of
miles away, it could be in our own home, our neighborhood, or our workplace.
As Christians, we are all called to be missionaries in this sense, but this
doesn't take away the responsibility that Jesus commissioned us to do - to
reach the world with His Gospel.
Here are some statistics from 2003. The world
population is at 6.3 billion people. 33% of that number claim to be Christians
and 26.3%, which means almost 1.7 billion people, still have never heard the
gospel.
We believe that missions have a very special
place in the heart of God. If you want to be blessed of God, one way is to be
a part of missions. We have seen how God has blessed individuals, families,
businesses, and churches because they are in one way or another, involved in
missions. You may not be called to be a missionary to a foreign country, but
you can still have a part through prayers and through your giving.
God has impressed upon Time Ministries to
give 10% of all offerings, donations, CD sales, all income that comes in, to
the mission field. We have seen how God has blessed because of it. In the past
year, we have seen over 150 precious souls come to the Lord and almost 100
people recommit their lives to Christ. Coincidence? We don't think so. We
believe that missions hold a very special place in the heart of God.
Thank You For Calling
The other day we had a message on our
answering machine from a customer. Se said, "This is the third time I
called. The first two, the answering machine didn't pick up my calls."
Because of her loyalty to us as a customer and her determination to get
through, she didn't give up.
Jesus reminds us we are to be persistent in
our prayer life also. He gave an account of this in Matthew 18:1-5. It's the
story of the widow who came before the judge to get justice from her
adversary. Jesus said in verse 5 that the judge said, "yet because this
widow troubles me I will avenge her, lest by her continual coming she weary
me." We need to be the same way. Just as the widow was persistent, and as
our customer was persistent in her calling, we also need to be persistent in
our prayer life. Just because we don't get the answer right away, doesn't mean
the answer isn't coming. Jesus said in Matthew 7:7-8, "Ask and it will be
given to you; seek, and you will find; knock, and it will be opened to you.
For everyone who asks receives, and he who seeks finds, and to him who knocks
it will be opened."
I think of Daniel and his prayer in Daniel
10. He said I was mourning for three full weeks when an angel of God appeared.
The angel told Daniel in verse 12 that from the first day, his words were
heard, but the prince of the kingdom of Persia withstood the angel twenty-one
days.
Don't give up. The answering machine may not
pick up your call the first time, but that doesn't mean you should quit. Keep
calling. Keep praying. We never know what the reason is that there is no
answer, but if you are persistent, we will get through. And yes, we did
replace our answering machine because we don't want to miss any of your calls
either.
Until next time, Dan
