Pack Your Bags!
Yes,
pack your bags! We want to take you on a mission trip with us through this
newsletter to see what great and mighty things our God has done! We give God
all the praise and all the glory for what has been accomplished. We also
thank you so much for your prayers and support which made it possible for us
to go and share the Gospel.
March 8-We flew out of Cleveland, Ohio for the Philippines.
March 9th-We had a layover in Tokyo, Japan, two days before the Tsunami hit.
Praise God for His protection.
March 10th-After 36 hours of travel, we arrived in Davao City, Mindanao,
which was our home base. Mindanao has a population of about 22 million, 55%
Catholics, 28% Muslims, 5% Evangelicals and 12% other religions and cults.
March 11-12-We spent both days getting bibles, guitars and rice ready for
distribution.
March 13-Ministry officially started at the Hope of Glory Church where 4
people accepted the Lord. Praise God! This church is currently renting the
top floor of a hotel once a week to worship God. The properties in the city
are very expensive but they are trusting God to provide a place of worship
for them.
March 14-Keith Williams Bible College Foundation Day. As we do each year
through your support, we provided each of the 19 Freshmen with a Thompson
Chain Bible. No words can tell you the joy in their faces. Many recipients
shared that owning a Thompson Chain Bible is a dream come true!
Last October, we noticed that the girls had no showers. They draw water into
a cup to pour over themselves and that's their shower. Through your help, 8
showers were built for the girls' bathroom. The new kitchen was also
dedicated this year. Last October we were able to provide 4 cast iron gas
stoves so now they don't have to chop firewood and build fires to cook.
March 15-Dan spoke at the Keith Williams Bible College Baccalaureate Service
where 19 pastors graduated. Each of them received a Minister's Personal
Handbook, a Bilingual Bible and $25 to start out their ministry with. Wish
you were there to hear the cheers when they found out they were receiving
the bibles. Some of the mountain pastors make less than $10 a month so $25
is about 2 months' salary.
March 14-18-Dan ministered at the ECOFI Pastors' Conference where 340+
pastors and their wives from all over Mindanao came to attend. As always, he
challenged them very heavily on winning souls. Our hearts leaped with joy
when they reported that there were over 9,000 salvations this past year,
glory to God! Your love, support and prayers are not in vain. You are very
instrumental in the winning of every one of these precious souls to the
Lord. With gratitude, we also report to you that every ECOFI pastor is now
equipped with a Bilingual Bible, praise the Lord! They were thanking God and
many shared that this is an answer to many years of prayer. Thank you for
bringing glory to our God by making this possible.
30 guitars, 44 Thompson Chain Bibles and bags of rice were also given
through drawing. How we wish you were there to hear the cheers and screams
as each name was called. Your giving did not stop with the recipient of your
gift. As they win souls to the Lord, you will have a part of their harvest
as well. And as we always share with you, when you get to heaven, countless
people will come up to thank you for making it possible for them to make
heaven.
Pearlyn ministered to the pastors' wives during this time. She spoke on
"Trading Your Sorrows" for the joy of the Lord.
Each pastor's wife received 11 pounds of rice. They were so grateful.
Several shared that this was an answer to prayer, praise God! You did what
Jesus said that when He was hungry, you fed Him.
March 20-We were at the Davao City Church of God. 15 people gave their
hearts to the Lord. Praise God!
March 22-Dan spoke at the Davao Bible College Baccalaureate Service in the
morning and the Graduation that evening. 28 pastors graduated, 3 of them had
received Thompson Chain Bibles before so we gave them Concordances while the
other 25 received Thompson Chain Bibles. 13 Faculty Members received
Bilingual Bibles.
A pastor shared that his Bible was "broken" and God provided. The wife of
the Overseer said "I have been desiring and praying for this kind of bible
for 10 years and now God blessed me". Another pastor in his 60s pastoring a
large city church and a faculty member of the Davao Bible College shared, "I
have been desiring this kind of a bible for a long time." They were
overflowing with gratitude for how the Lord provided.
March 23-Dan preached at the Church of God Regional Camp Meeting. 7 guitars
were given to pastors from very poor churches.
March 26-We went to a get together for the ECOFI Medical Mission Team. This
team was organized this year and Dan commissioned them during the Pastors'
Conference. Two of the nurses accepted the Lord during this dinner.
March 27-We went to the Faith Bible Church, a tribal church in the mountains
sponsored by the Faith Bible Fellowship in Ohio, where 6 people accepted the
Lord. Praise God!
April 3-We went to the Agdao Church of God where 12 people accepted Christ.
This church ministers to gang members and Rugby boys as well. Rugby is a
type of glue that they sniff and get high on.
April 4-7-ECOFI National Couples' Convention, 200+ delegates attended. Dan
preached the revival each night and through the day, we did some lectures.
The pastors and wives were not able to attend the lectures because they
cooked and served the meals so the delegates can attend the seminars. They
want us to return to their Midyear Seminar in October and teach this
material to the pastors and their wives. During this conference, at least 57
people accepted Christ, including 2 Muslims. Praise God! On the last night,
we had a renewal of wedding vows. We bought chocolate cupcakes with hearts
on them for every couple as their ‘wedding cake'. They were so happy.
There was a lady at the conference who came up during the altar call. She
just cried, and wept so Pearlyn and another pastor's wife took her to the
office to talk to her. She was so bitter towards her husband. Before he was
saved he had been unfaithful to her. But since then God has saved him and
called him to the ministry. She cannot forgive him and they thought their
marriage was beyond reconciliation. She left to come to the conference in
the heat of another fight. God dealt with her during the altar call. We
encouraged her to call her husband to come to the renewing of vows on the
last night. We told her she needed to forgive her husband and think of this
renewal as their "new" wedding day, a new beginning. So she called her
husband but she was afraid he may not come but praise God he did. God
brought healing into their marriage. Two weeks later, we saw her husband and
he was beaming and was praising God that his marriage has been restored.
Praise God!
April 9-Marriage Seminar at the Agdao Church of God. We closed the seminar
asking each one to write a love letter to their spouse.
April 9-Dan spoke at the Davao GH Office Depot. There were over 100
employees present and 7 accepted Christ. Praise God!
April 10-We went to the Suraya Church, daughter church of the Hope of Glory.
April 17-We went to the Jesus Saves Fellowship. The Lord impressed Dan to
preach on His Power. A month later, we got an email from their Sunday School
Superintendent and she said and I quote, "Indeed, that was a big help to all
of us especially that our church members has just recently went through
difficult times that nearly destroyed us. We especially thank you for the
prayers and the very inspiring and reassuring words that cheered us to
continue despite difficulties. The powerful words that you have released
for us definitely shook our pains away and made us realized that we can
ALWAYS rely on our BIG GOD. And that our problem is NOT BIGGER than our
God." Praise God!
April 18-22-ECOFI National Youth Convention. More than 1,000 delegates,
chaperons and pastors attended. Dan preached the revival services each night
and Pearlyn taught on Sexual Purity to the Young Professionals in the
mornings.
One of the guys in Pearlyn's class, who accepted the Lord, asked to talk to
us privately after class. He said he's gay and was so shocked when Pearlyn
shared I Corinthians 6:9 about homosexuals and wanted to know more. So we
shared more Scriptures and prayed with him.
Everyone in the class also wrote a love letter to their future spouse
promising to stay pure for them. Each gave their spouse a fictitious name,
so they'll have a name to pray for and write letters to. One student, a
teacher by profession, named his future wife Bibs, short for Bible. The
letters will be given to their mate on their wedding day.
During this conference, 279 young people accepted the Lord and 41 dedicated
their lives to full time ministry. At one of the services, some of them
literally ran to the altar.
You see, your prayers and support again did not stop at the Youth
Convention. As each one of these new converts and the ones who go into
ministry go out and share the Gospel, you will have a part of their ministry
and of every soul they lead to Christ.
Every delegate received a wrist band that said, "I will wait for my
beloved." We distributed them and Dan officiated a Commitment to Purity
Ceremony.
May 1-Dan preached at the Christ's Universal Mission, a Chinese church in
Manila. 4 people accepted the Lord. Praise God!
During the 2 months, the Lord allowed us to give out hundreds of tracts and
witness to people individually as well and many accepted Christ. Praise the
Lord!
By the grace of God, and through your prayers and support, we know of 518
people who accepted Christ as their personal Savior during this trip. We
give God all the praise and glory for what He has done and we thank you so
much for your fervent prayers that have snatched many souls out of the grasp
of Satan. Heaven indeed has been enlarged! Thank you also so much for your
support. Without it, we cannot go, many would still be lost and many pastors
would still have unanswered prayers of owning a Bible or a guitar so they
can be more effective in their ministry. We are eternally grateful to you!
This is just a very brief and small glimpse of our 2-month ministry in the
Philippines. Our webmaster, Jacob Isom, will be uploading a power point onto
our website for you to see how the Lord used you. Thank you!
A Look Ahead
Praise the Lord for the doors He is opening
for us to share the Gospel. We are currently in Mercersburg for a 4-day
revival. We will be home on May 26, just enough time to do laundry and
repack to leave again the following day. From Bedford we travel to Uniontown
for a revival at Solid Rock Ministry, starting Friday, May 27 through
Monday, May 30. We have a couple of days off then we travel to Osborne,
Kansas for a revival at the United Christian Church starting on Sunday, June
5 through Wednesday June 8. Our service on June 12 at the Evangelical Free
Church in Concord, Nebraska has been rescheduled to Sunday, July 3rd.
Please pray with us as we are now trying to
schedule another church in Southwestern Kansas for Sunday, June 12 with the
possibility of a revival there as well.
From there we go to Watertown, SD for the
Midwest Bible Camp June 26 through July 1. Dan will be ministering in the
area of missions and Pearlyn will be ministering to the Junior High group
during camp.
We leave Saturday, the 2nd of July for
Concord, Nebraska for the service at Evangelical Free Church. From there we
head back home for a couple of weeks and then travel to Jennings, Maryland
for services on Sunday July 24th.
We ask you to please pray for us, for safe
traveling and for many souls to come to Jesus. Thank you!
To God be all the praise and glory for what
He has done!
Most of you probably heard or read about
Judgment Day on May 21. We know no man knows the day or hour but what if
Jesus had come on that day? How many of your family and friends would have
been left behind? More reason to work while we have the time. Please pray!
Until next time, Dan
