God's Call... Philippines in
September
We
left the Philippines this past May with pleas for us to return this October
for the ECOFI's Mid-year Pastors' and Workers' Conference, which consists of
revival services and training sessions for the national pastors and workers.
Our initial reaction was, "There is no way we can afford to go to the
Philippines twice in a year." But then we were convicted, it's not our will,
but His. When God calls, He never fails to equip and provide.
A second trip to the Philippines within a year certainly was not in our
plans so we prayed and sought God earnestly for this matter. One day,
Pearlyn asked God to confirm the trip in the message on a particular Sunday.
A Columbian missionary was the speaker that Sunday at our home church. He
made the statement that the most effective missions is to train the national
workers which is exactly what the October seminar is all about. Following
that, the Lord also confirmed His will several more times through His Word
and pastors.
While we were still seeking God, these sobering thoughts came to mind: What
if we didn't answer God's call for us to return to the Philippines in
October and because of it, we miss the opportunities to witness to someone
He has ordained along our path? What if we miss encouraging a pastor and he
ends up not going out to preach the Good News? What if these missed
opportunities result in someone missing out on heaven? After much prayer, we
know it is not what we want, but what God wants. So our tickets are
purchased, we are getting ready for a 3-week mission trip to the
Philippines, departing on September 27th and returning on October 19th.
Our trip is short but is packed with ministry engagements. There are days
when we have 3 teaching sessions plus revival service in the evening. We
need God's presence to go with us. We don't want this to be just another
mission trip. We want to accomplish what God has called us to do. We want to
make eternal differences in the lives of people. All these are not possible
unless God's presence is there. We have included our schedule on the next
page. We are still waiting for a couple of schedule confirmations that are
not on the list but will you please commit to pray for us daily from
September 27th to October 19th? Your prayers could make the difference of
someone's eternal destiny. This is why we covet your prayers so desperately.
Thank you!
Laughter.... Good for the Soul
A Minnesota couple decided to vacation in
Florida. They planned to stay at the hotel where they spent their honeymoon
20 years earlier. Because of their hectic schedules, the husband left town
and flew to Florida on Thursday. His wife would fly down the following day.
The husband checked into the hotel. He sent an e-mail to his wife. However,
he accidentally left out one letter in her e-mail address. Without realizing
his error, he sent the e-mail.
Meanwhile … somewhere in Houston, a widow
had just returned home from her husband's funeral. The widow decided to
check her e-mail, expecting messages from relatives and friends. After
reading the first message, she fainted.
The widow's son rushed into the room, found
his mother on the floor, and saw the computer screen which read:
To: My Loving Wife
Subject: I've Arrived
I know you're surprised to hear from me. They have computers here now and
you are allowed to send e-mails to your loved ones. I've just arrived and
have been checked in. I see that everything has been prepared for your
arrival tomorrow. Looking forward to seeing you then!
P.S. Sure is hot down here!
Greetings from Dan and Pearlyn...
With grateful hearts, we send you greetings
seasoned with the love of our Lord Jesus Christ!
Summer is coming to an end and harvest
time, physically and spiritually, is here.
We are heading back to the Midwest next
month. We will be in Kansas, Nebraska and South Dakota. From there we return
to Ohio to fly out to the Philippines from Cleveland.
Again with all of our hearts, we thank you
so much for your very faithful prayers, encouragements and support. Because
of your love and faithfulness, heaven indeed has been enlarged for the glory
of God! Without a doubt, when you stand before God, many rewards are yours.
Many people will come to you to thank you for making it possible for them to
make heaven. Many rewards will be yours because you were the hands and feet
of Jesus while you were on earth.
These scenes may be hard for you to imagine
yet or understand the finality of it, but that's exactly how it's going to
be. Because of the love of God flowing through your lives, many will escape
an eternity in hell and make heaven.
You are a very vital part of Time
Ministries. Without your prayers and support, we cannot go and share the
Good News. You will never know the eternal impact you are making until you
get to heaven when the Lord says, "Well done, thou good and faithful
servant...Enter into the joy of your Lord.!"
On behalf of the countless touched by the
love of Christ flowing through you, we are eternally grateful to you!
With Joy, We Report to You...
With joy, we report to you that by the
grace of God and because of your prayers, this past quarter has been very
fruitful! We know of 20 people who gave their hearts to the Lord. Praise
God! Thank you for your prayers. Without your prayers, we would be
unfruitful and ineffective in the harvest filed.
After we returned from the Philippines in
May, ministry started with a Missions Report at our home church, Spring
Meadow Family Worship Center. We shared what the Lord has done and did a
PowerPoint presentation of the Philippine Mission Trip.
On Memorial Day weekend, we went to a
beautiful hunting lodge to minister at the Healing Waters Church of God
Retreat and Revival.
From there we went to western Pennsylvania for a revival at the Solid Rock
Ministry in Uniontown, where 12 people accepted the Lord, praise God!
Following that we went to Vance Avenue Community Church in Coraopolis.
The end of June, we headed to South Dakota
for the Midwest Bible Camp where Dan ministered on "Being Fruitful" in the
morning devotions and Pearlyn taught "I Kissed Dating Goodbye", a study on
Dating not being biblical but Courtship is, to the Junior Teen Class. From
there we went to the Olivet Congregational Church in Michigan. After service
one evening, we went to get a bite to eat. Before we left the restaurant,
God gave us a divine appointment with the waitress, she accepted the Lord.
God is so good!
After Michigan, we headed to Maryland to
minister at the Jennings Church of God.
We see God moving in the lives of people,
drawing them to Him with His love. We see people's heart tender and ready to
receive Christ because of the prayer covering that you have blessed us with.
We can never thank you enough for the time you spend in prayer for us. Your
prayers are not in vain, they are touching lives for eternity. Only eternity
will reveal the impact you have made and are still making.
Please continue to pray for us. We have experienced the fruit of your
prayers. When we are on the road and see people come to Jesus, we know that
you are covering us in prayers.
For everything that has been accomplished
for the Lord, we give God all the glory and we thank God for you.
Hiring or Expiring?
Matthew, 20:6-7a, "And about the eleventh
hour he went out and found others standing idle, and said to them, ‘Why have
you been standing here idle all day?' They said to him, ‘Because no one
hired us.' "
I was talking to a friend the other day and
discussing why some churches are moving forward and growing while others are
not growing but seem to be diminishing, one member at a time. He mentioned
the above Scripture and said he felt a lot of churches never caught the
vision of Jesus, to employ their people. The church has a very high
unemployment rate. Jesus reminds us of this in Matthew 9:37. "Then
He said to His disciples, ‘The harvest is
plentiful, but the laborers are few.'" Most people just come to church.
Times have changed. The days of yesterday are gone when pastors did all the
work and a few people helped. Believe it or not, most people today want to
be involved. They like ownership and will cherish the opportunity to get
involved with a ministry, maybe not to head it but most certainly to help.
If they're unemployed, they will soon look for another church.
If you look at the first part of Chapter
20, you will notice there were several opportunities of employment. There
were those who were hired early in the morning. Again at the 3rd hour, the
6th hour, and the 9th hour. It finally came to the 11th hour and he found
them standing idle. I believe we are in the 11th hour of God's timetable. We
can't afford to keep doing things the way we always did before. People are
dying and going to hell while God's people are standing around idle. We've
got to get out of the mentality of this is my ministry. This is God's
ministry and we are all part of it, working together to accomplish the will
of God and the will of God is this, that no soul perishes. Paul reminds us
of this in 1 Cor. 12:14, "For in fact the body is not one member but many."
He goes on in verse 20 to remind us that there are many members but one
body. In verse 27 he says, "Now you are the body of Christ, and members
individually." There are 20 plus ministry gifts mentioned in the Bible but
very few are being used. If you're unemployed, look for the one doing the
hiring and get involved. If you're doing the hiring, look around at your
people and hire those that are idle. Someone's life depends on that.
Until next time, Dan
