We Stand Amazed
We stand amazed at what our Lord
has done and is doing in the Philippines. We wish you all could have been
able to go with us to witness God's faithfulness and how He has used you to
reach a tremendous harvest. We can show you pictures, but there is no way we
can even come close to describing the way things really are.
We left the Philippines rejoicing over so many things that took place and
most of all, over the 126 precious souls that we know of, who are now on
their way to heaven. We cannot cease to give God all the praise and glory
for all that He has done. We thank you so much for being a part of this
great harvest. The 126 precious souls is just the beginning of this mission
trip's harvest. We don't know how many more will come to the Lord through
them. Through your love and support, we were able to buy 73 Thompson Chain
Study Bibles, 31 Guitars, 1100 lbs of rice, bags of groceries, books and
other things for Pastors and future Pastors. As these Pastors win souls for
the Lord, you will have a part of their harvest. You will never know until
eternity, the impact that you have made. With God, blessings do not come in
additions but multiplications, praise God!
Each year as we get ready to leave for the Philippines, we always ask you to
pray for us but this year, we felt an extreme need and urgency to be covered
and bathed in prayers more than ever because of the lateness of the hour and
the countless people who are still lost and on their way to hell. We know
many of you have committed to pray for us and we saw firsthand the results
of your prayers. Over and over again, we just stood in amazement because we
saw how the Lord had already gone before us and prepared the hearts of the
people. Now we understand why God called us to go. God had already prepared
the hearts of the people, He called us to go, put us at the divine appointed
place at His appointed hour to harvest the souls that He has prepared. Their
hearts were ready to receive Christ. This is nothing short of the
faithfulness of our God and your very faithful prayers.
We will run out of room if we were to share everything that took place but
we will share some testimonies of what God has done. God blessed us with
many opportunities to minister this trip.
We started out ministering at Davao GH Office Depot where more than 120
employees gathered to hear the gospel. We also ministered at several
Filipino and Chinese churches in the Davao City, Manila and Southern Luzon
areas.
Dan ministered at the Keith Williams Bible College Baccalaureate service
where 13 precious young people graduated. Through your support, we were able
to give each one of these graduates $25.00 and a Minister's Personal
Handbook. They were very encouraged that you would care so much for them.
For some of them $25 is a month's salary or more. Then we ministered at the
ECOFI Pastors' conference with more than 350 delegates, and the Pastors'
Wives Conference with about 70 ladies present. Dr. Keith Williams, president
of the Midwest Evangelistic Association, has invited us to minister at this
conference for the past five years. This year this organization has more
than 280 established churches. Two years ago, they reported 380 salvations
among the churches. Last year, they reported 700+ salvations. Dan was asked
to minister very heavily on Evangelism last year, which he did. This year,
for the glory of God, more than 5689 salvations were reported, we serve an
Awesome God!
During the Pastors' wives conference, it was announced that their Fall
retreat will be held at a resort and the lodging will cost $4.00 per person.
There were concerns that some of them may not be able to attend because of
the cost. We had some funds remaining, so God impressed upon us to pay 75%
of it. On the second day, we announced that Time Ministries supporters will
pay for 75% of their lodging which is $3.00 per person. A roar of cheer
erupted from the ladies… for $3.00? Yes, for $3.00! When was the last time
we were so grateful for $3.00? That touched our hearts.
Also through this organization, Pearlyn spoke at the Keith Williams Learning
Center Kindergarten Graduation. We were blessed by a little 6-year old girl
who directed the National Anthem and a 6-year old valedictorian who gave a
speech in English, which is not her first language. We were so fascinated by
the Filipinos and their talents. They don't have luxuries like we do here in
America so the kids grow up forced to use their creativity for learning and
fun. We were at a park one day and saw a young boy, maybe 7 years of age,
dragging a block of wood with a string attached as a toy car. So in their
lack, they develop their God-given talents.
We also had the opportunity to minister at the Davao Bible College. Through
your support, we gave each of the 38 graduates a Thompson Chain Bible which
was received with so much appreciation and tears of joy.
One of the burdens we have is to be able to equip Pastors. Although it is
our desire to provide every Pastor with a study Bible and every church with
a guitar, it was impossible for us to do so due to the cost. So each year,
Bibles and guitars are given out through drawings. We also wanted to bless
them materially so we bought rice and groceries as prizes. When the names of
the winners were called, the way they cheered and ran up for the prize would
make you think they just won a bag of gold! Our hearts were blessed and
touched to see them blessed. It made us so grateful for what we have; we
will never be the same. We thank our God for giving us this very special
opportunity to be a blessing to His called servants and we thank you for
making it possible for us to go. Your prayers and financial support has
enlarged heaven, it has blessed the ministers of God. Your rewards are
great, we know our Heavenly Father has recorded your love and your labor,
and it is not in vain. Only eternity will reveal what you have done!
Greetings from Dan and Pearlyn...
Greetings from our home to yours!
It's great to be back home after a 5-week mission trip to the Philippines.
We flew out of Akron, Ohio on March 4th, arrived in Davao City, Philippines
on the 6th after a 31-hour journey. We had one day to rest and ministry
commitments started on the 7th. Each year we return from the Philippines,
realizing so much more how blessed we are here in the United States. Many
things that we take for granted are not everyday conveniences for the
Filipinos. We are a God-blessed people! It is our prayer that we, as a
nation, humble ourselves, turn from our wicked ways and seek God's face so
that He can heal our land and we can again be a God-blessed nation!
We want to thank you so much for your support in every way... your prayers,
your encouragements and your financial support. It was such a blessing and
encouragement to know that you were praying. There were many hard days in
the Philippines, but when we see the people God has ordained to be along our
paths so He can minister to them, it was all worth it.
So many people, including us, are forever grateful and indebted to you.
God's love flowing through you has changed eternal destinies, people have
found the only eternal hope, Jesus Christ! As we have shared with you
before, when you get to heaven, many people that you don't even know, will
walk up to you to thank you for making it possible for them to make heaven.
What an awesome thought! Thank you and God bless you!
Divine Appointments!
At a
graveyard, God showed up, led us to a security guard and an ice cream
vendor, they both accepted the Lord. In a taxi, God's presence was also
there, He put us in that taxi so He can save this precious driver. At a
store, God prompted us to give this Chinese lady a tract and ask her if she
would like to know Jesus. Without hesitation, she said "Yes, I would!"
Coincidences? Absolutely not! Divine Appointments? YES! Don't forget to ask
Him for
your
divine appointments everyday!
Excerpts from Letters of Lives
You've Touched...
We got many letters from people when we were leaving the Philippines and
here are excerpts from a few of them.
"I've been a pastor since 1985. For many years, I've been longing and
desiring for a Thompson Chain Bible. However, due to financial problems, I
was not able to buy this kind of Bible because it's too expensive. But
thanks be to God, He used you as an instrument so that my heart's desire was
fulfilled."
"It has been my desire for a long time to own a Thompson Chain Bible to use
in my ministry but I never expected to own one but praise God I finally got
one. We'll never forget your good deeds towards us!"
"I've been praying that the Lord will give me this kind of Bible for such a
long, long time so now God used you to grant my heart's desire. Thank you
ever so much. There are no words that can express how happy I am for such a
wonderful gift from you."
"I would like to give thanks and praise to God for using you to meet our
need in our church. Truly we have been praying for a guitar. Thank you very
much."
"Thank you for the rice, it is a big help to our family in this time of
crisis."
"My family is a recipient of your rice. Truly the Lord knew my family has no
rice at this time, glory to God!"
"I thank my God for using you to provide this rice. Honestly speaking we
have no rice left because we are working in a pioneering work in the
mountains to reach out to the lost souls. So praise the Lord for your
support."
"I want to say thank you so much for the Thompson Bible. It is a big, big
help to me to have such a nice Bible. I myself cannot afford to buy this
kind of Bible but God used you. I cannot pay you back but it's my prayer
that God will shower you with His blessings."
"If you could see how I reacted when they said that the graduating students
were getting a Bible. It blew my mind. Thank you for responding, God really
orchestrated everything."
"For two years I've been praying to have my own Bible and God used you to
answer my prayers. When I entered the Bible School, I didn't have my own
Bible, I had to borrow from my cousin."
We think these letters speak for themselves; all we can say is "ALL GLORY TO
OUR HEAVENLY FATHER and THANK YOU FOR MAKING THIS POSSIBLE! GOD BLESS YOU!"
Until next time, Dan
